The Facoltà di Scienze Politiche of the University of Perugia was founded in 1927, one of the first in Italy. It has a long tradition of teaching and research, with many notable scholars both at national and international level.
Following the 1999 reform of Higher Education (Decreto Ministeriale n. 590/1999) the Facoltà was enriched with new courses, to better meet the challenges of contemporary societies.
In the academic year 2009/10 a further step was taken to implement a 2004 legislation (Decreto Ministeriale n. 270/2004) which introduces new parameters in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and quality in higher education.
Since January 1st, 2014 the Facoltà di Scienze Politiche has been renamed as DIPARTIMENTO DI SCIENZE POLITICHE (Legge 240/2010).
